Maple Almond Pie Topping

We can't believe it's already December 1st and officially the holiday season! Temperatures are starting to drop but the sun is shining and there is still an abundance of fresh produce. 
This recipe is gluten free + vegan and you can easily make it grain free by swapping out the oats for hemp seeds or more nuts. 
1/4 c almond butter
1/4 c coconut oil
2 Tbsp chopped almonds
2 Tbsp maple syrup
1/2 c gluten free oats
Dash of cinnamon
Pinch of sea salt
    Mix all ingredients together in a medium size bowl and allow to chill in the fridge while you prep your pie or crumble. Once that is ready to go, sprinkle the topping evenly over the pie or crumble and place in oven to bake as directed. If the topping is browning too quickly, cover loosely with aluminum foil.  For convenience, we used a pre-made pie crust and for the pie filling we used a mix of blue and black berries, which paired perfectly with the almond butter!  We would also recommend trying apple or pear crisp with this topping recipe.
